The success of your piecesPottery is a fun and rewarding craft, but it also takes patience and practice. As you learn, pieces may break during the making process, and sometimes we lose pieces during firing. We do our best to guide and teach you, but pottery is a delicate art, and outcomes can be unpredictable. Even with proper technique, pieces may crack or break in the kiln due to factors beyond anyone’s control. Following instructor guidance helps improve your chances of success, but we cannot guarantee that every piece will make it through the process. Your payment covers the experience of the class, not a guaranteed finished piece. If your piece is lost or damaged, we won’t be able to replace it or offer accommodations. We appreciate your understanding and hope you enjoy the creative journey!
-
Picking up your piecesWe will email you with specific pickup times. If those times don’t work, the studio will offer additional pickup times the following week, depending on availability. If none of those options work, please arrange for someone else to pick up your pieces. The studio can only store your pieces for up to 2 months from the date of your class. If you miss our email and it has been more than 2 months, your piece will no longer be available.

What if I need to miss a class in the series? It’s okay if you need to miss a class—you can book open hours to work on your pieces. If possible, the instructor will try to repeat the demo or provide guidance in the next class or during open hours. However, we strongly recommend not missing the first class. If you must miss the first class of a wheel-throwing series, please book a spot in a wheel-throwing workshop before your second class. The first class includes multiple small demos that are difficult to repeat. • • Please also avoid missing the last class, as glazing demos cannot be repeated.
-
How many pieces can I make in a series class? This depends on your practice, speed, and approach. Some people prefer making fewer, more refined pieces, while others enjoy experimenting and creating more. Instructors will share general expectations for what you can create and how many fired pieces are included in your class. Additional pieces can be fired at $10 per piece for small items like mugs and bowls. Larger bowls, vases, or other items will have custom firing prices—please check with the instructor before placing them on the bisque shelf.
-
Do I need to pay for open hours if I miss a class?Yes. Your spot in the class is still held, and the studio continues running the session. If you’d like to make up for missed time, you’ll need to book open hours separately.
-
What if I can only stay for one hour?Open hours are available in two-hour slots. If you can only stay for one hour, you will still need to book a full two-hour session.
-
I only need 15 minutes to work on my piece.Open hours are structured in two-hour slots only. We understand that sometimes you may only need a few minutes to adjust or refine a piece, but unfortunately, we are unable to offer shorter time slots or accommodate individual scheduling requests. Thank you for your understanding!
-
Do I need to book two separate sessions to make and glaze a piece?Yes. After creating your piece, you will place it on the "to be fired" shelf. Please allow 10–15 days for the studio to fire your work. Once it’s ready, you can book a separate session to return and glaze it.
-
If I’m enrolled in a series class, do I need to pay for open hours?Yes. The cost of a series class covers only the scheduled class time. If you’d like extra time to create and practice, we encourage you to attend open hours. Since working with clay takes time, open hours provide a more affordable way to practice and build confidence at your own pace without paying for instruction time.
-
Do you offer kids' classes?Yes! We occasionally host special kids' classes, especially around holidays, and also offer camps. These are suitable for ages 8 and up. Parents or guardians are welcome to join and create alongside their kids by booking a spot in the same class.
-
Can kids attend other workshops or series classes? We love welcoming kids to the studio! However, our regular classes are designed for adults and may feel overwhelming for younger participants. If your child is passionate about pottery, they are welcome to join workshops with an accompanying adult who has also booked a spot. Please note that while I do my best to guide young artists, their pieces may not always turn out as expected due to the intricacies of pottery. Suggested ages: 16+ for wheel-throwing classes and 14+ for hand-building classes. Kids younger than 16 years old cannot attend open hours. Please do not book a spot for your kids, we will not be able to accomodate kids during open hours or refund their booking.
